Who places the calls
A Fight Worth Having ("AFWH") is a federal independent-expenditure-only political action committee registered with the Federal Election Commission, FEC ID C00933085. Outbound voice calls to your phone may come from AFWH directly or from an AFWH-contracted vendor placing calls on AFWH's behalf. Every call identifies AFWH at the start.
Why we call
AFWH places voice calls for the following purposes:
- Voter research and polling. Short, voluntary surveys about issues and candidates.
- Voter education. Information about elections, registration deadlines, and how to vote.
- Get-out-the-vote outreach. Reminders about polling locations, hours, and absentee/early-vote windows.
- Supporter engagement and fundraising. Calls to people who have previously interacted with AFWH or who appear on a licensed contact file permitting political outreach by phone.
How the calls are placed
AFWH's research and outreach calls are placed in one of two modes:
- Live, human-initiated calls. A live AFWH staff member or vendor representative dials your number and speaks with you. These calls are not autodialed and are not robocalls. If you ask the caller to stop, they will end the call, add your number to AFWH's suppression list, and not call again.
- Conversational AI-assisted calls. In some pilots, AFWH uses an automated conversational system in place of, or alongside, a live caller. The system identifies itself as automated at the start of the call. See our AI Voice Disclosure for details, including how to request a live operator or opt out.
AFWH does not use prerecorded political robocalls to non-consenting mobile numbers. Where prior express consent exists (for example, from supporters who have provided their number to AFWH and agreed to receive calls), AFWH may use recorded reminders, in which case the recording will identify AFWH at the start and provide an opt-out method.
Hours and frequency
AFWH's default calling window is 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. recipient local time and excludes Sundays. AFWH will not knowingly call you outside this window for research, education, or fundraising. AFWH will return calls to recipients who request a callback at any time consistent with normal business courtesy. Operational exceptions to the default window are documented internally and reviewed by counsel.
Recording & transcripts
Some AFWH calls are recorded for quality assurance, training, research data quality, and dispute resolution. AFWH operates a mixed all-party / single-party consent posture across U.S. states:
- States that require all parties to consent to recording (currently including, without limitation, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Washington): AFWH will obtain your verbal consent before continuing to record, or will not record the call.
- All other states: AFWH operates under single-party consent (the consent of the AFWH agent placing the call is sufficient under federal and state law).
You may decline recording at any time. Declining recording does not end the call; it stops the recording. If you ask AFWH to delete a recording in which you participated, AFWH will do so within ten (10) business days, unless retention is required by law or by an active dispute. See the Privacy Notice for the broader retention policy.
What we do with recordings
Recordings and call transcripts are stored on AFWH-controlled infrastructure under access controls. They are used to:
- Train AFWH staff and improve script quality.
- Code voter responses for survey analysis (research calls only; coded responses are de-identified before any reporting).
- Resolve disputes about what was said on a call.
- Demonstrate compliance with applicable law to regulators and counsel.
AFWH does not sell call recordings. AFWH does not share recordings with candidates or with parties not under contract with AFWH and bound by equivalent privacy obligations.
Caller ID
AFWH's outbound caller-ID display will identify AFWH and / or the AFWH program (for example, "AFWH Research" or "A Fight Worth Having"). AFWH does not spoof caller-ID information. Where the carrier or downstream device suppresses the AFWH brand name, the calling number is registered to AFWH and recipients can look it up at the FCC reassigned-numbers database or contact AFWH directly.
How to stop calls
You can opt out of AFWH voice calls in any of the following ways. AFWH honors opt-out requests across all AFWH programs and across all vendors AFWH uses, within ten (10) business days as required by federal law:
- Tell the AFWH caller, "Please stop calling me." The caller will add your number to the suppression list before ending the call.
- Email [email protected] with your phone number and the word "STOP".
- Call (423) 839-6107 and leave a voicemail with your number and request.
- Submit the SMS opt-out form and check "Also stop contacting me by phone".
AFWH respects the National Do Not Call Registry to the extent it applies. Federal law currently exempts political calls from the DNC registry, but AFWH's internal suppression list applies regardless of whether a recipient is on the federal DNC list.
Your rights
The federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) gives you specific rights regarding automated calls and recorded calls. State laws give you additional rights. AFWH will respond to written requests about your data under applicable state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA in California, and parallel laws in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia, among others as adopted). To submit a request, email [email protected].
Disputes
If you believe AFWH has called you in violation of law or these policies, please notify AFWH at [email protected] before initiating other remedies, so AFWH has an opportunity to correct the issue.
